“Gentleman Dan”

Dan “Smith”west to find his fortune, but what he found was Gold Mining was a hard and thankless work. He knew there had to be an easier way to make a living and enjoy the good life. He soon discovered that it was easier to rob stagecoaches, and far more profitable. It was the manner in which he held up the stagecoaches that earned him the name “Gentleman Dan”

His true identity will always remain a secret as he was never caught, but he left a lasting impression on all he robbed. He was a gentleman, who never uttered a vulgar word, was always well dressed and clean shaven. He demonstrated great manners and showed respect to those he robbed, escpecially the women whom he allowed to keep their wedding rings. His victims knew as long as they did what he asked, and didn’t challenge the rifle aimed at them, they had nothing to fear.
