The Battle of Towton
The Battle of Towton
The Battle of Towton was fought on Palm Sunday 29th March 1461 in Yorkshire and involved up to 70,000 men. At the end of the day 28,000 of them lay dead on the battlefield. It was without doubt the largest and bloodiest battle ever fought in this country.

This book covers the events from Ludford Bridge 1459, up to the battle of Towton and includes chapters on the Battles of Northampton 1460, Wakefield 1460, Mortimers Cross 1461 and 2nd St. Albans 1461. This will, I hope, explain to the reader why the battle took place.

The main aim is to show who fought in these battles, in order to ascertain who participated at the Battle of Towton.
